Infrastructure Modernized, Burstable removed (non-T/non-Flex) Design
Overview and Purpose
This Knowledge Base outlines the specifications, logic, and application guide for the Infrastructure Modernized, Burstable removed (non-T/non-Flex) Cloudamize migration and optimization plan, primarily targeting AWS environments.
This design delivers a highly optimized, non-burstable target state that balances cost efficiency with consistent, predictable performance. It leverages modern, general-purpose instance families while explicitly excluding instances that are part of the Burstable Performance (T) or Flexible (Flex) instance families. The T instances are designed for workloads requiring consistently lower CPU usage but can burst to 100% CPU for short amounts of time. The Flex instances are designed for workloads with moderate or variable CPU requirements but can burst to 100% CPU for extended periods of time.
Key Design Principles
-
Modernization: Prioritize current-generation, general-purpose instance families (e.g., M5, M6i, R5, C5 in AWS).
-
Performance Consistency: Strictly exclude all burstable families (T-family in AWS). Recommendations will only include instance types with dedicated CPU resources, ensuring predictable performance.
-
Cost Optimization: Right-size compute and memory recommendations based on peak observed utilization using highly optimized Cloudamize logic.
-
Exclusion Families (AWS Focus): Excludes all T instances (e.g., T3, T3a, T4g and -Flex).
Recommended Use Case
This design is ideal for customers who:
-
Require guaranteed, non-burstable CPU performance for all workloads.
-
Need to use the latest generation of standard compute instances.
-
Want high optimization without any T or Flex instance recommendations.
Cloudamize Plan Settings
The design is configured to mirror the high optimization of the standard "Infrastructure Modernized" (OLA2) plan, with a critical modification in the Compute Tuning section to enforce the exclusion of burstable infrastructure.
